Pandemic Illustration Concept for Magazine Feature Spread

Pandemic Illustration Concept for Magazine Feature Spread

This is a concept that was presented for a magazine feature about the economic fallout caused by global pandemics. Ultimately this concept wasn't chosen and didn't go to print. I still enjoy the ven diagram that I created by the overlapping shapes made from two doctors; one a 14th century doctor and one a modern day doctor, both wearing their period specific PPE.

job site signage and way finding

job site signage and way finding

A sample of the revised job site signage for HITT Contracting. After a brand refresh in summer 2022, all of the signage and way finding for HITT across the country needed to be updated to adhere to the new brand. This included over 700 signs in English and Spanish that are critical to the work that HITT does and the safety of the job sites. I worked with a print vendor in the D.C. area to ensure that all signage was updated in a timely and organized manner and was ready for purchase by all of our site operations teams on the day that the rebrand was launched.

Set of D.C. Inspired Patches for Outpatch

Set of D.C. Inspired Patches for Outpatch

In 2022 I was honored to be selected as the D.C. artist to contribute designs for two new patches for Outpatch. Here I am showing some of my early sketches and ideas I had for these patches. I wanted to evoke two different emotions with the patches and showcase the vibrancy that I’ve come to love so much about D.C. Ultimately the final two patches were decided upon and I love the contrast between them. One showing a bright and sunny day in peak tourist season in D.C. and the other being a bit more moody and romantic showing the Lincoln memorial at night under three stars representing the D.C. flag.

IMF Finance & Development feature spread

IMF Finance & Development feature spread

Feature spread design for IMF Finance & Development magazine. This feature was about the need for a global transition away from oil to a more sustainable energy source. The illustration transitions from a dark scene to a brighter future, but creates an impending sense of doom for the small ship floating on oil about to sail off a cliff.

IMF Finance & Development feature spread

IMF Finance & Development feature spread

Feature spread design for IMF Finance & Development magazine. This feature is about the cresting wave of debt that small and developing economies almost certainly will face after the economic bail outs caused by the COVID-19 crisis. I wanted to evoke a sense of fear with a large wave composed of international currencies swelling up, about to crash down on the headline and the reader’s gaze.

Watercolor Illustrations for Yesternight

Watercolor Illustrations for Yesternight

Original watercolor illustrations for “Yesternight” by Linda Hobgood. Published by Covenant Books Spring 2019. Adorable story about a little girl, Claire, who uses the word “yesternight” when she reflects upon. her dress-up fantasies that occur when she is in her room. Her dreams become reality with brightly colored, whimsical illustrations that blend fantasy characters with real-life settings.

DIPG Illustration- Magazine Feature Spread

DIPG Illustration- Magazine Feature Spread

Custom illustration for opening spread of magazine feature discussing a rare childhood brain cancer. My intention was to make a particularly dark topic feel light and hopeful, as well as pay respect and tribute to the child mentioned in the feature.

IMT Energy Opportunity Scan

IMT Energy Opportunity Scan

The IMT Energy Opportunity scan is a printed booklet (6 pages total) used as a tool to help cities understand how to become more energy efficient. The finished product is a highly illustrative booklet that refines and condenses what was originally an almost 30 page, text heavy document. The purpose of the Opportunity Scan is to make learning about energy efficiency and the necessary steps more approachable and appealing to adults in the corporate workplace. I was inspired by Schoolhouse Rock! illustrations by David McCall as well as the children’s book Wump World illustrations by Bill Peet. My goal was to create something that an employee would take home and share with his/her kids, generating questions like “What is energy efficiency?” at the dinner table. All illustrations are done on ipad pro using Procreate App, final layout in InDesign. 2018
